Submission list mishap

I hate it when I misplace something. Earlier today I came across a wonderful writing opportunity and couldn't find my 2013 submissions list. I know I had it a couple of months ago but it was nowhere to be found in my hard drive. Unfortunately, I think maybe it was on my flash drive which died about a month ago.

So, I had to recreate what I could remember was on it by going through my favorites list and checking what publishers had open calls for anthologies. Now I have a new document and a great place to start for short story submissions.

Now, if I could just place the completed short stories I already have...

'Recalled' - new fanfiction story

My apologies for not posting until later this Wednesday morning. I've taken on a position at work that holds more responsibility and am getting used to switching from sales agent to supervisor.

I have finished my massive fanfiction crossover and sent it to editor who asked for it. The title is  'Recalled', and I set story up to have a sequel or two.

Mostly the tale is about John Sheppard who is recalled by General O'Neill to go back to Atlantis. John is not happy since he's started a new life as Jason Danville, married and about to adopt four children. They travel to San Francisco where he learns the wraith Todd escaped from  Area Fifty One and is on the lose in Golden Gate park.

Meanwhile, the Kindred and the Charmed Ones, who have an uneasy truce, are hunting a new type of vampire or demon who is killing people in the park. Mixed in is the odd offer of Julian Luna both to assist and to buy P3. Do the three sisters trust him? Or does he another agenda?

Crossover Fanfiction & updates

My newest project is requested fanfiction story. I'm working on getting it finished by the 'soft' deadline in between doing research for a collaboration and working full-time. Yep. That's right. I do have a day job. Most writers do.

The fanfiction piece is a massive crossover. It is a mixture of Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, the movie Change of Plans, if you haven't see it you should, Charmed, Kindred and a surprise that I'm not going to ruin. Most if takes place in San Francisco and I've had to pull up a map of the Golden Gate Park to help place the characters. One of the disadvantages since I've never actually visited there.

I also received the proof for 'Different Dragons', did my few corrections and am really loving the cover art. It is available for viewing both on my Facebook page and WolfSingers Publications Facebook page.

AnomalyCon Postscript

I attended AnomalyCon, our local Steampunk convention over the weekend. I was impressed by the friendly staff, the willingness of the the Conchair to sit and talk with folks, and the impressive number of costumed attendees. I haven't see that many at the local literary conventions for several years.

My first panel World Building, was lively with several other authors making their suggestions on how to build a believable world for your characters to walk around in, without the external details overpowering the story.

I also ran two Writing Workshops, or Prompts, as they were called. Small turnouts for both but the participants learned a great deal. The first was Saturday, Goodnight Colorado, where the writers would compose a travelogue. I expanded it to include traveling other worlds, solar systems, wherever they wanted to set it. The second was with J.A. Campbell on Smart animals. A fun little exercise where instead of a human view point, the piece is written from a critter of choice.

I also had a reading but no one showed up so I spend the time talking with whomever walked by.

Most of the convention I spent talking with fellow writers, sharing news of finished projects of upcoming ones. I also brainstormed a new idea which I will be working on with J.A. Campbell. We're both excited about the project, which we're hoping to have done in time for AnomalyCon next year.
