A Good Start

I've started reading for Different Dragons 2. I have a total of twenty stories and have, so far, read six. Outcome was three will be accepted, one rejected, one iffy and one that may have potential with some revision. A good start for the new anthology.

I also received edits for Vampires Don't Sparkle 1. I changed a few things in my story and returned it to the editor. Must admit, I've never written an alternate history vampyre tale before. Funny thing is, most of it is based on actual events. Be interesting to see what people think of it.

Oh, and I just got an announcement about another dragon anthology being edited by Carol Hightshoe. Of course, I have to write a story for that one and have already come up with a great idea.

Teeth, Job, Vampire cats

Kind of a quiet writing week. I had a dental emergency and spent several days recovering from it. Two teeth had to be removed and evidently, I had a massive infection as well. The only cure was to remove the cause. The area seems to be healing now, so that's a good sign.

I did spend Tuesday afternoon writing a Halloween tale about my vampire cats. I named it Illusion. When it gets revised and edited, it will be going to an anthology. Oddly enough, it is a sequel to my story, The Failure, which was submitted to Zombified 2.

Most of my time is being spent on finding a job. Not an easy thing to do despite what the media keeps trying to report. I've had a few interviews, but no offers yet. I'll breathe easier when I finally get a position.

Submissions, Reading, and just enough

This week's project has been to read submissions for Supernatural Colorado. Five stories later I was amazed at the talent and diversity of the writers and can't wait to read the last eight. There are seventeen in all and I've read four others previously. Though some need revision, I haven't read one I would reject - which is good since this was an invite only anthology and it looks like I'll have just enough stories to fill it.

I also submitted a story to Vampires Don't Sparkle. An anthology were there are rumors there might be a number two because the editor has received over fifty submissions - and the deadline isn't until March, 2014!

All in all - a good week. Now, if I could just come up with a zombie story...

Rolling in

This week I've completed a rough draft for a new vampire story. Got the idea from a spooky special I watched about the Badlands.

Also, submissions for the two anthologies I'll be editing are rolling in. Three authors have extensions due to illness or other life events. Happens in the writing world. I should be seeing their stories within the next week. Luckily, I have to publisher deadlines...yet.

Am also thinking of writing for NaNoWriMo this year. Haven't signed up but thinking it might be what I need to get one book finished and get further into the next one.

'Recalled' - new fanfiction story

My apologies for not posting until later this Wednesday morning. I've taken on a position at work that holds more responsibility and am getting used to switching from sales agent to supervisor.

I have finished my massive fanfiction crossover and sent it to editor who asked for it. The title is  'Recalled', and I set story up to have a sequel or two.

Mostly the tale is about John Sheppard who is recalled by General O'Neill to go back to Atlantis. John is not happy since he's started a new life as Jason Danville, married and about to adopt four children. They travel to San Francisco where he learns the wraith Todd escaped from  Area Fifty One and is on the lose in Golden Gate park.

Meanwhile, the Kindred and the Charmed Ones, who have an uneasy truce, are hunting a new type of vampire or demon who is killing people in the park. Mixed in is the odd offer of Julian Luna both to assist and to buy P3. Do the three sisters trust him? Or does he another agenda?

Crossover Fanfiction & updates

My newest project is requested fanfiction story. I'm working on getting it finished by the 'soft' deadline in between doing research for a collaboration and working full-time. Yep. That's right. I do have a day job. Most writers do.

The fanfiction piece is a massive crossover. It is a mixture of Stargate SG1, Stargate Atlantis, the movie Change of Plans, if you haven't see it you should, Charmed, Kindred and a surprise that I'm not going to ruin. Most if takes place in San Francisco and I've had to pull up a map of the Golden Gate Park to help place the characters. One of the disadvantages since I've never actually visited there.

I also received the proof for 'Different Dragons', did my few corrections and am really loving the cover art. It is available for viewing both on my Facebook page and WolfSingers Publications Facebook page.
