A Good Start

I've started reading for Different Dragons 2. I have a total of twenty stories and have, so far, read six. Outcome was three will be accepted, one rejected, one iffy and one that may have potential with some revision. A good start for the new anthology.

I also received edits for Vampires Don't Sparkle 1. I changed a few things in my story and returned it to the editor. Must admit, I've never written an alternate history vampyre tale before. Funny thing is, most of it is based on actual events. Be interesting to see what people think of it.

Oh, and I just got an announcement about another dragon anthology being edited by Carol Hightshoe. Of course, I have to write a story for that one and have already come up with a great idea.

Supernatural Colorado - New story order

Whew! Spent an exhausting Sunday putting Supernatural Colorado together. Luckily, we were overcast and rainy, so it was easy to sit at the computer without longing to be outside.

I'm still awaiting a couple of revisions and bios from authors. For the most part, it's done.
On Wednesday, it will be off to the publisher.

The story order did change. Not much, but a little. Mostly due to lengths and time periods. More on this anthology as it gets closer to publication.

Vampires Don't Sparkle

Big announcement - my story From Family Blood is Born has been accepted for the anthology,
Vampires Don't Sparkle Vol 1. It will be released through Sky Warrior Books and has an impressive line up of stories and authors, edited by Carol Hightshoe. Once I have an official release date, I'll post it in my blog.

Quick synopsis of my story:  It is based on the premise that John Adams was turned into a vampire by his cousin, Deborah Adams Metcalf. Odd bit of historical fact here, Deborah's grave has never been found nor is there any record of her death. Set in Boston, MA, they encounter a descendant of the Adam's family line who is a member of a religious cult. Also based on actual fact. I won't ruin the end of the story, but it is an alternate history with a lovely twist.

If you agree that not all vampires sparkle, then you will love this anthology.

Back to work. Yeah!

Finally! I'm mostly over being sick and have gone back to writing. On Sunday I edited my completed zombie story and sent it off to Zombified II edited by Carol Hightshoe and will be published by Sky Warrior Books. I also partially edited a story for my own project Supernatural Colorado. I'll finish the piece later this week.

It hasn't helped that we've had cold temperatures and snow. There's nothing like coming home after a long day at work and then having to shovel the driveway...just so I can pick up the mail!

At least I'm not so tired when I get in that all I want to do is collapse in front of the TV, with a cup of tea, a cuddle blanket and cat on my lap. Sometimes two, when they decide they feel like sharing momma. I normally wouldn't move until bedtime.

Now, it's back to the grind, but a much more fun one than my day job.

Denver Comic Con

I spent the weekend at Denver Comic Con sitting at the WolfSinger Publications table. I'm thankful my publisher agreed to allow me to do this. She even made up a sign that I was there and had an announcement done on Sunday to say I was there.

The outcome was that ten copies of 'Winter Awakening' were sold. Another eight of the two anthologies that I edited 'Time Traveling Coffers' and 'Different Dragons'.

There were several folks who made a point to stop by. A woman and her two children who heard the announcement. A lady I rescued on the light rail. Someone who bought a copy of 'Different Dragons' on Friday night, learned I was there on Saturday and came back on Sunday to have me sign her book. A young lady I had met a Lifeway. And many others.

My most precious moment was when a young adult bought my book and asked to me to take a picture with her. I'd never had that happen and it was a bit of a surprise. But one thing I've learned from many of the pros, always be gracious with your fans and make them the highlight, not yourself.

I did take a bit of time to walk by and see the various film/TV guests. I'm not one to collect celebrities autographs. Richard Hatch was the only exception I've ever made to the rule. I got to say 'Hi' to good friends and fellow authors, David Boop, Peter J. Wacks, Kevin J. Anderson and Rebecca Moesta. And enjoyed the various costumes people wore all the way from infants to those who are more mature.

Will I go back next year! Absolutely!!!!
