New Release and more updates

Have read six more stories for Different Dragons 2. Four are accepted and two are iffy. Now have eight left to read, one of which is a novella. In fact, reading the pieces tonight, I've already picked my number one spot story. Nope, no spoilers until I finish reading and inform the authors.

Out this week, Dynamite and Diamonds 3, a gen fanzine. In it is my story Plan's Change. I'm already working on my third and final piece to finish out the series. If you like Stargate Atlantis, the film Change of Plans and Terra Nova, you'll have fun with this little tale. Best compliment I got was that I took the story in an unexpected direction. My readers thought I would go one route, and I went another.

Also this week, I presented 'How to do a Reading' to my writer's group, Words for the Journey. Everyone thought it informative. It even got several mentions on Facebook.

New Fanfiction Stories

Last week was a fanfiction week. I wrote a new story called Never Forgotten, and post two others on fanfiction.net that had been previously published in a fanzine.

Never Forgotten begins at end of both Terra Nova and Primeval New World. Evan and Dylan had just escaped through the anomaly and suddenly find themselves in an ancient world. A patrol from Terra Nova finds them and takes them to the colony. In the future, Angie is determined to find them and bring them home, but why the anomalies stopped is a mystery, and just what is that strange object sitting in the courtyard?

The other two stories were originally published in Diamonds and Dynamite 1 & 2.

Happened Before and Again is a massive crossover featuring the universes of Stargate Atlanis and Stargate SG1, Falling Skies, both Battlestar Galactica 1978 & 2001, plus Caprica. The story is told from the viewpoint of Atlantis and her prime directive to protect the city at all costs. Inhabitants come and go and she watches them trying to decide if she should allow to stay or sent them on.

Recalled  is another crossover featuring Stargate Atlantis, the movie Change of Plans, Charmed, Kindred, and a number of surprises. Colonel John Sheppard is recalled to active duty just as he and his wife Sally are preparing to adopt four children. They leave their home in Ohio and journey to San Francisco where are series of bizarre killings are happening in the Golden Gate Park. They cross paths with three women who are also hunting the killer. John must decide which is more important, stopping the killer or protecting his family.

Resting and Catching up

Normally, I write and edit on Sundays. Instead, I decided to take the entire weekend off and watch TV programs that featured dinosaurs. I watched the entire season of Primeval New World and the first three and last two episodes of Terra Nova. Both of which are excellent shows that the networks killed too soon.

On Tuesday, I attended my local writer's meeting. Had a great time sharing with everyone and catching up. Even had a couple of folks stop me afterwards to ask questions and pick my brains about what I know in regards to the Science Fiction genre. I tend to keep my foot in both the secular main stream and the up and coming Christian Speculative.

What I will say is the writers of Christian Speculative are very good at coming up with new ideas or twists and turns on old themes. Their writing is excellent. If you would like to check them out, I suggest looking at titles from either Marcher Lord Press or Splash Down Books. Both can be found online.

Not Much Getting Done

Most of my week has been centered around cleaning up around the house or work. Yes, I do have a day job. I've also been watching my favorite Science Fiction shows, Defiance, Warehouse 13, Continuum, Primeval New World and Falling Skies. I'm also rewatching Terra Nova on DVD.

My one writing victory was to get my part of the collaboration with Julie Campbell done and off to her to add the next section. We're running a bit behind on it but both us have other things going on in our lives. Not to mention the wonderful warm weather just makes one want to go out and bathe in the sun rather than type away on the computer.

I'm also on the list of participating authors for MileHiCon. Got their update email with all the exciting panels and events that are planned.

The WorldCon in San Antonio, TX is right around the corner but finances prevent me from attending. Am waiting to see where the one in 2015 is with Spokane, WA, Orlando, FL and somewhere in Finland in the running. Kansas City, MO has a bid in for 2016...so far.

While I'm trying to finish this, there's a tiny paw on my leg begging for attention. Adara likes to sit on my lap and groom my arm. Unfortunately, it is just too hot, so she went to bother one of the male cats, who just wants to sleep. He ignored her so she is off to get into mischief.

Guess I'd better go check on her.
