Busy, busy, busy

Good week for writing and editing. Finished up a new story for a charity antho and submitted it. Name of it is : Tails from the Front Lines. Stories about soldiers and their dogs. Mine was titled Pack Rule, centering around a young woman and her wolf in the not tool distant future after a natural disaster pretty much destroyed the planet.

Also got two stories edited and sent back to the authors. Had some edited stories come back in. Already know I will be spending much of my upcoming three day weekend getting the rest of the stories edited and back to the writers for final approval.

Am also hoping to get some writing done as well. I still have several projects to complete by the end of the year. Going to be a push, but I will get it done.

New Release and more updates

Have read six more stories for Different Dragons 2. Four are accepted and two are iffy. Now have eight left to read, one of which is a novella. In fact, reading the pieces tonight, I've already picked my number one spot story. Nope, no spoilers until I finish reading and inform the authors.

Out this week, Dynamite and Diamonds 3, a gen fanzine. In it is my story Plan's Change. I'm already working on my third and final piece to finish out the series. If you like Stargate Atlantis, the film Change of Plans and Terra Nova, you'll have fun with this little tale. Best compliment I got was that I took the story in an unexpected direction. My readers thought I would go one route, and I went another.

Also this week, I presented 'How to do a Reading' to my writer's group, Words for the Journey. Everyone thought it informative. It even got several mentions on Facebook.

Different Dragons 2 update

My writing goal for this week was to organize my next anthology. I got it done!

Different Dragons 2 is now ready for me to start reading the stories and making my selections.

I also emailed the authors so they know what is going on. It's been a few months since they submitted, and for a few over a year. This will give them a chance to either cheer or tell me they're no longer interested.

Looks like my job will be difficult given the caliber of authors and the type of stories I know they can write.

Stay tuned for updates....

Deadline...

Late last week I heard back from Written World Communications. They liked the sample stories I sent for Supernatural Colorado and wanted to see the completed anthology ASAP. Great news for all concerned. Problem is, I haven't quite finished editing yet.

So, I managed to get four stories back over the weekend and next weekend, I will finish the final four. Then I await the return of all revised submissions, so I can get the anthology put together and off to the publisher.

Deadline. The end of this month.

When I finish that one, I'm off to complete my next, even as I'm beginning to come up with an idea for next year's editing project. Nope. No hints as yet, but I've already had an author pitch an idea, and he didn't even know he was pitching. Told him to write the story and submit it.

Just goes to show, you never know when an editor is going to like your idea or what the outcome will be.

Twists and Turns

Been a busy weekend for me. I managed to edit two stories for Supernatural Colorado and added a chapter to my book Winter Emergence. The latter I will be copying on my thumb drive, taking it to our local filk,in a couple of weeks and running it past my two young adult beta readers.

Since work has me a 'busy' project, I have mental time to plot so I'm working on my book  and coming up with some interesting twists, including who is going to die at the end. I'm not sure how my readers are going to react to the characters' deaths. I'M not even sure how I feel about it.

I also sold two copies of my first book Winter Awakening to co-workers. I don't actively solicit. I just tell folks I'm a writer and if they express an interest, I offer to sell them an autographed copy. Not everyone takes me up on it, but a few accept.
