Busy, busy, busy

Good week for writing and editing. Finished up a new story for a charity antho and submitted it. Name of it is : Tails from the Front Lines. Stories about soldiers and their dogs. Mine was titled Pack Rule, centering around a young woman and her wolf in the not tool distant future after a natural disaster pretty much destroyed the planet.

Also got two stories edited and sent back to the authors. Had some edited stories come back in. Already know I will be spending much of my upcoming three day weekend getting the rest of the stories edited and back to the writers for final approval.

Am also hoping to get some writing done as well. I still have several projects to complete by the end of the year. Going to be a push, but I will get it done.

Different Dragons 2 update

My writing goal for this week was to organize my next anthology. I got it done!

Different Dragons 2 is now ready for me to start reading the stories and making my selections.

I also emailed the authors so they know what is going on. It's been a few months since they submitted, and for a few over a year. This will give them a chance to either cheer or tell me they're no longer interested.

Looks like my job will be difficult given the caliber of authors and the type of stories I know they can write.

Stay tuned for updates....

Pet Peeve Words

My major pet peeve as an editor are crutch words. What are those? Words authors constantly use to get them from point A to B because they have not yet learned how to do so any other ways.

 Most common offenders:
That
Then
As
Still
which
for a moment
but
to, with, of,
and many, many others.

Why do I catch these? Because I have done and sometimes do this myself. I love it when an editor points this out so I can sharpen my skills as writer.

As an editor, I try to do this for my writers as well. My reward, seeing the improvement in their writing.
