The Dollhouse Series

Eventually, I'm planning on writing a series of paranormal/urban fantasy/supernatural/horror novels all based on the dollhouses I've built, decorated and peopled, both with human dolls and animals. The first two are planned and the other day, out of the blue, I discovered who my bad guy was. I hadn't really given it much thought. I just knew the first novel I've worked on was rather dry and lacked a 'what's at stake' element.

Having now figured it out, I'll be able to write this series. Yeah!

And sometime in the distant future, I'm hoping to open my own miniature museum. Can you imagine how fun it will be if there are a series of books to go with it and how absolutely unique that will be?

Bridging the Gap

I had an unexpected weekday of last week so I arranged to meet with my two teen collaborators. We sat at their dining room table with me on my lap top and them on their ipads. We had a great time doing research of various animals and plotting out the final book, which will help with the first four in the series. When we finished we had all the species for the first four installments and a very good idea what power our bad guy has.

I can't wait to get started on this young adult series. I've even decided to see if I can market it to a large publishing house, instead of a small one, even though the very idea scares me. Still, I know the market is looking for good books. Better still, it will appeal both girls and boys, the latter rarely finding anything they actually want to read.

What I've learned from tutoring is that boys lag far behind girls in reading. While I don't mind writers catering to the female audience, the male one has been largely ignored.

Hopefully, this will be a series that bridges the gap.

Collaboration and a new Tween series

Yesterday during Denverfilk I got a few minutes to talk with my two young collaborators. We're working on a possible Tween series and did some brain storming on characters, plot ideas, and some different monsters we could introduce. While we're in no hurry to launch the series, the first book isn't even written yet, I do hope to start marketing it by early next year. Not to mention more collaborations over the summer with my two young friends. And yes, their parents know what we're working on. I would not be doing this without their permission. So stayed tuned for updates as this Tween series unfolds.
