CoSine & Supernatural Colorado release

Okay, been a long while since I posted to my blog. I've been busy selling my current home and buying a new one. Between paperwork, looking and inspections, this is a crazy time in my life.

Not to mention I was at CoSine, that's the Science Fiction literary convention in Colorado Springs. I was on 6 or 7 panels, which is rather unusual for me. Supernatural Colorado was released and sold at my publishers table.  The total sold was 4. Not bad for a smaller convention.

Crazy Life

Slow writing week. Too much else going on in my life. I've written maybe 600 words total in two days. At least I finished a chapter of my new book and started a short story.

My time at home is limited during the work week. I have several tasks I have to get done every evening. Plus, start to get my house ready to sell and have been watching the real estate market for a possible new one.

CoSine is coming up where the anthology I edited Supernatural Colorado will be released.

Beginning of February is the Superstars Writing Conference.

Going to be hectic for the next few weeks.

Seasons

Summer has arrived. Temperatures are the 90's this week and I really don't want to do anything. Maybe my biggest question is what happened to Spring? We had an elongated winter with snow storms well into April/May. After that is was chilly and then bam! Summer stomped in.

My own personal seasons have been just as stormy. The transmission went on my van in late fall and I ended up having to drive my husband's car for several months. My father-in-law had a major medical issue and landed in the hospital - while my husband was out of town. Then my father had an accident and broke his elbow.

After that my husband went to live with his dad for what was supposed a temporary unknown length of time. Two months later he returned and told me he didn't want to be married anymore.Of course, he did this just before CoSine where I was schedule to be one of the participating authors. I was pretty much in shock for about a week or so.

Eventually, I got a new car with my husband helping with the financing. I own my new vehicle free and clear of payments. Not only did I get all the features I wanted but over and beyond what I had asked God for.

I did start a new job in September and six months later, I got promoted. Having never been salaried before, I'm finding it a treat to not have to punch a time clock.

Now at work, we're starting a new season. Many of our seasoned agents have moved on to a new department and most on my team are all new. It's an exciting, busy and yet scary time.

As for my writing, I'm working on that as I have time. I talked to my publisher at Denver Comic Con and my new book 'God's Gift' will be released, barring unforeseen circumstances, later this year. 'Different Dragons' which I edited is out and I have writers fighting to get into Volume 2. There are two collaborations in the works and a few short story submissions in my future.

This season of change has taught me many things and I'm blessed to have God who watches out for me. I face the future with hope rather than fear.

CoSine Postscript

Cosine, a local Science Fiction Convention, was held over the weekend and I made the trek, even staying in the hotel, to attend. It was a marvelous weekend of reconnecting with friends, or making new ones, and networking. Not to mention supporting one of our locals who recently suffered a loss. I know he got many hugs over the two and half days.
 
I was on a few panels including Sidekicks, Cats and Robots, talking about the role of supporting characters. I think the most popular was Dr. Watson in the Sherlock Holmes series. The other was Deus ex Magica, which the guest of honor S.M. Stirling was on along with Sarah Hoyt, which turned into talking about world building rather than the rules of using magic.

There were two nights of Filking with Jordan Kare, one of the guesst. Most of Denverfilk was there and we had a great time sharing songs and sometimes just visiting.

There was also a mass autographing session, a huge popular event where authors get to meet their current and potential readers. I sat next to my publisher and she sold several books.

I attended a few panels just to listen and learn.

Oh, and this year when I had my reading I had three people show up. Last year only one person did. I consider that a win!

The only sad thing is that there will be no CoSine next year. The same small group has been running it and they need a break . Whether this convention continues at a future date remains to be seen. It is small and intimate and most of us who attend absolutely love it!
